Adolphe Blanc

The French violinist and composer was born on 24th June 1828 in Manosque (Basses Alps) and died in May 1885 in Paris. He was one of the few French composers of that time, who was mainly devoted to chamber music. He started studying music at the Conservatorium in Paris in 1841 and studied composition by Havély. In 1862 he was awarded the ”Prix Chartier”, for deserving composers in the field of chamber music.

Blanc was the conductor, under the direction of the theatre director Caravalho, at the “Théâtre Lyrique” (Lyric Theatre) for a short while. After that he was a violinist in the orchestra of the Concert Society of the Paris Conservatorium..
